Skills That Transfer Beyond the Outdoors

What happens in the woods does not stay in the woods.

As kids practice outdoor skills like navigation, problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making, they’re also building life skills they use every day.

Outdoor skills naturally strengthen:

  • Confidence and independence

  • Focus and attention

  • Communication and teamwork

  • Resilience and adaptability

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving

When children feel capable outdoors, they carry that confidence everywhere else.

Program Policies

Expectations and Class Requirements

Classes are typically hands-on, interactive, and outdoors, and good mobility and balance will allow your child to safely enjoy the experience.

Classes are designed to be engaging and to work with a child’s natural curiosity about learning. Learning the skills taught requires periods of quiet focus and listening, and students must be able to sit without being disruptive to other learners during these times.

Students must able to follow directions and to give their attention to safety and the topic at hand. Lessons will require focus and for the child to be fully present. Consider this when deciding whether this class will be a good fit for your child.

If the instructor determines that they are not ready for this style of learning and the level of safety required, their registration will be canceled and they will not be permitted to continue. Partial refunds will be offered up to the close of the second class in the series should this situation arise.
